We Did It

Earlier the Human and I went out to celebrate the last day of our Year of Posting. On January 1, 2012, I asked the Human nicely if we could post Every Single Day for a year, and she grumbled and said, "Well, Spitty, I don't know about that!"

But you know, even though I had to poke her a little sometimes with a carefully sharpened claw (So you have a kidney stone? So what?), I prevailed. Through thick and thin, through tutoring and presidential elections, through nearly naked men on our sidewalk and neighbors who love Halloween a little too much, we have loved sharing our little corner of the world with you, our fellow Feline and Human residents of Planet Earth.

Thanks for making our lives better (not to mention way more entertaining) than we ever could have imagined!
                                                                  Happy New Year!

Now That You Ask...

...yes, I was planning to enjoy some private time here on the sunny windowsill,
but feel free to join me! Oh, what's that? You don't fit?
Pity.

Gray Mouse with Cat

A while back, the Human bought me this soft Gray Mousie from Feline o'Mine. Here we are together, enjoying the last nice sunpuddle we are likely to have in 2012. It is good that gray mousie is so loyal to me, since yesterday The Human killed little green mousie by running him through the washer and dryer at the laundromat. I had hidden him for safekeeping in the set of sheets she ripped from the bed without first making sure nothing drownable might have been entangled in them. It was sad, Furiends: He disintegrated. The Human did not even bother to bring the remains home to me.
Still, I have Gray Mousie and Pinkie [Uh, not to mention your 258 other little mousies. -Ed.]

Holding a Grudge

Well, apparently, I am not as good at it
as I thought I was. Huh.

Playtime!

Sometimes, old toys are still the best! I have had this raffia wand toy for a kazillion years [Hyperbole--Ed.] and I really, really love it.
I don't nap ALL the time! Not that there's anything wrong with that. We kitties are programmed for comfertabul snoozing, right?

P.S.  Just in case it might look like I have forgiven The Human for her "indiscretion" with Nigel, I have not. But I needed a hand at the other end of the wand toy, so what can you do?

She Cheated On Me

Nigel made his home on my Human's lap for three days. Hrrumph.

Wasn't it bad enough that I was heartlessly 'bandoned on Christmas Eve and Christmas? Did she have to have a torrid three-day affair with Nigel, an 18-year-old Lothario of the first order? I mean, they've known each other since Nigel was the size of a pear! They had to wait till now, till I have become a floofier, friendlier Boy? This is going to set our relationship back more than the Human can even imagine!

**Thanks for all your Christmas wishes. We should be around to visit tonight!**

I Has the Warms . . . . .

. . . . . and the added attraction of inconveniencing the Human.

P.S. Don't give up on us.....our Krissymouse Cards have become New Year's Cards
The Human is so full of lame excuses!!!

Christmas with the Cousins

Here we see Wally, Madie Mitten Kitten (aka The Multi-Toed Lolita) and sweet Aggie in a rare ménage à trois. Perhaps they are imbued with the Holiday Spirit, perhaps they are simply cold, or perhaps their Dad has laced their stinky goodness with Valium.
Well, whatever the reason, we would all do well to feast our eyes upon them, as this configuration may not recur soon. . . . .or ever.

Spitty vs. Spitty

Say, Spitty, aren't you enjoying this freezing cold weather
that finally forced the Human into turning the radiator on?

Yes, Spitty! It is so good to be toasty warm again!
Have a good sleep, Buddy!

A Leetle Too Much?

....or just right?

Hello, Kitties! Do you remember these people
Our holiday-enthusiast neighbors?
Well, unfortunately their Christmas display does not feature
that fabulous blow-up Spitty,
but it is quite, uh, festive all the same!
There are plenty'o'Christmas balls
(though sadly I did not find mine).
There's a nice Merry Christmas sign, Santa, a snowman and his Mini-Me,
and since they did not have blow-up Me, I offered them the Real Deal,
though no one was much interested.
And the stoopy Human said I couldn't go over there.
She can be a real buzz-kill, you know?

You Can Call Me Dusty, Pawdner

No, I am not napping. I am resting up for my next Wand Toy play session.
Whenever the Human decides to come home and play with me
Like she should
If she really cared
Just sayin'.

No, I Do Not Nap ALL the Time

Sometimes, I take a Nice Baff.

P.S. The Human finally let me open my Secret Paws package from Texas--no, silly, not the state, the nice Parisian Kitty from The Big AppleCome and see!

Glam Giveaways from Glogirly!

Look, Kitties, Look! A couple of weeks ago our friend Katie held a raffle to win a Bag of Swag from The Queen of Pink herself! And I, Spitty-the-Kitty, won! Can you even imagine??
There was a pretty pink tote bag (and say, isn't that my Pinkie checking it out along with me?), a deck of K-K-Katie playing cards, some greeting cards, a magnet, a pen and more! It is a PAWSOME pile'o'loot!
Oh wait a minute, excuse me--what are those people talking about out on our sidewalk?

THANKS, GLOGIRLY!

E-Z Bake Sunday

I like my circle beddy on this chair for easy table access.
Can you see how adorably comfortabuls I am today?
Sometimes it migrates to the floor, which is okay too.
I am much more neatly asleep in this picture. with my
Yeoww Nippy Rainbow close at paw.

And the bake part? Well, it was very cold today
and my beddy is toasty warm!

N.B.: I believe I may have given a false impression yesterday regarding my putative "Lap Sitting" behavior. Let me clarify: Occasionally I am picked up against my will and plonked unceremoniously into the Human's lap, with my back legs and rump resting on her (very ample) thighs. If she pets/brushes me, I may consent to remain briefly, as long as I can place my sweet little paws on the desk for quick-getaway purposes.
So what happened was, she decided to snap a picture to mislead my furiends and suggest that I am a willing participant in Lap Time. And really, it was a cunning little photo, what with my earsies looking so cute.

Caturday Triple Play

Near the Human's school is a street named after You-Know-Who
But where's Spitty Alley?
Shhhh. Don't tell anyone but sometimes I sit in the Human's lap
while I visit my furiends. Shhhh.
The Human is pleased with the file cabinet tableau in her office.

Waiting on the Introodur

See how happy and relaxed I am? Not a Care in the World, Kitties! But today the Human told me The Introodur will arrive tomorrow.  This news does not Please the Kitty, who would rather he remain at home. Where he belongs. Hundreds of miles away from here.

Thoughtful Thursday

Well, hello, Kitties! Thanks for stopping by on Thoughtful Thursday, an extremely irregular feature of SpittySpeaks.

We are postponing further FURRari rides till after the first of the year as what began as a lighthearted, larky adventure suddenly turned a bit stressful for Yours Truly.

We'll be back to our regularly-scheduled program tomorrow!

Tails from Taos

I picked up the Delicious Caroline (Can you even believe William refers to her as Snapoline? I mean, what's THAT about?? She could not be a more gracious LadyCat!) this morning and we set out for our New Mexican Day of Adventuring.

Anyway, I whisked her off to Taos where we dined on salmon cakes and squirrel muffins at the Love Apple restaurant. (I picked it because, really, could there be a better Love Apple than Sweet Caroline?) After a digestif (Cream Sherry, of course), we were off and running.

Our favorite stop was at the adobe Church of St. Francis of Assisi (now, there's a saint for you, a real good one as saints go). We explored the grounds and then we each took a bell tower and got those clappers a-clappin'. We scampered right down and had a good laugh at the Humans as they searched for the pranksters.

By then the shadows were lengthening, so I chauffeured Miss Caroline home to her Mommy and her sisfur and brofurs. Everyone seemed really happy to see her again, except that mean ornj boy. Wonder what's wrong with HIM?

Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice*

Hello, Kitties! Today I am on lovely Mackinac Island with the even-more lovely and beauteous Zoey of the Island Cats. Now, honestly, it was Wally and Ernie, those Big Bad Boys, who yearned for an outing in the FURRari, but seriously? Would I want to spend a romantic day in this gorgeous place with them? It is to laugh!
It seems that ordinarily cars are not permitted here, only bikes and horse-drawn carriages, but let's get real: Do you think they would really keep out Spitty and Zoey and the FURRari?  Of course not! So we were granted special purrmission.
Here we are at the gingerbready Murray Hotel where we consumed a fine cocktail and a tasty luncheon. We cavorted around the Island and caught a few little woodland creatures, which we ended up letting go, since we had already dined so well. After a delightful nap and snuggle we headed for Zoey's, where I delivered her into the giant paws of her brofur Ernie. He and Wally were clearly envious of her adventure, but I just waved and chuckled as I sped away!
* For those of you whose Latin may be a tad rusty, the translation of Michigan's state motto (adopted in 1835) is: If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you.

Oh? Okay, right then. Thanks.

Derby and Ducky have issued a little challenge to create a new version of  The Twelve Days of Christmas using creatures that are not Burds (The Trout-Talkin Tabbies, where all this originated, duz nawt like The Burds!) I came up with a tasty ♫ ♫  Rodentia Version ♫  :

On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Twelve mousies twitching
Eleven voles a-sniffing
Ten rats a-running
Nine chipmunks chewing
Eight squirrels a-scrambling
Seven shrews a-sneezing
Six gerbils jumping
Five guinea pigs
Four capybaras
Three handsome hamsters
Two tiny muskrats
And a porcupine in a spruce tree

I collected Nellie on Caturday and we set off in the cold December afternoon to the Empress Hotel in Victoria where we enjoyed a Cream Tea with Mouse Tarts and tiny Vole-and-Cream-Cheese sandwiches.
Nellie was a delicate and refined Lady who nibbled daintily at her tart and sipped her tea. I, on the other hand, having recently become a glutton, slobbered as I vacuumed up my fudz and slurped my drink. The wait staff were extremely courteous, saying nothing to me as they exchanged sympathetic glances with Nellie.
We headed back to her tiny village, well-fed and sleepy from our outing. Nellie invited me in for a snuggle and a nap before I set out for the City-by-the-Bay.

I Don't Think We're in Kansas Anymore

Glinda: Oh well, I'm a little muddled. The Munchkins called me, because a new Witch has just dropped a bench on  Spitty the Kitty. And there's the bench. And here you are. And that's all that's left of Spitty the Kitty.

N.B.:  I protested this posting but the Human laughed at me and said, "C'mon, Spitty! It's funny!" *I* remain unpersuaded.

Meanwhile.....
I managed to pry my beautiful Iza-Lambie away from the bosom of her loving family long enough to take her for a spin in the FURRari

We ended up at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Baltimore. (I don't who that weird guy who photobombed our nice picture is, but we didn't let him bother us a bit.)

We explored the place to our heart's content. Iza did slay a mousie or four, but we did not come across any Black Cats walled up in the dining room!

After a fun couple of hours, we hit the road back to Castle TBT, but as we kissed good-bye, we agreed to meet again soon for exciting trip to PetCo!

Pinkie

The other day I left Pinkie as an offering on the Human's bed. She didn't seem to appreciate the true value of my generous gesture, and tossed her on the floor. Now Pinkie has disappeared and I certainly won't be offering to share her again.

Meanwhile . . . . .
While Star's Mommy was all busy making her fundraiser ornaments for Winnie's Wish, I scooped up Star and we headed for the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. We had a grand time playing with Elvis's guitar and enjoying some Cream.

N.B. to all:  The Human laffed so much reading this she almost passed out. (I'm not so sure that sounds like a recommendation, but she says it is):  Funniest Cartoon Ever

A Boy and His First Box

Those of you who have been following SpittySpeaks for some time probably know of my box phobia. While other Kitties cavort with careless abandon inside every box that comes their way, I avoid them like the plague.
The day before yesterday, the Human brought home some mail-order purchases that arrived in a fine, wide and shallow cardboard box. She looked at it, and she looked at me, and she looked at the box again.
"Hmmm," she said.
After removing the contents, she carefully placed my SBB inside, and Kitties---look at me now!  And what's more, I have made a couple of small incursions into the cardboard.
Now, yes, I do realize that you are all laughing up your sleeves (or would be if you had sleeves), saying, "Spitty! You're not even IN that box! You're on top of it! What a loser!"
And to Kitties inclined to such views, I acknowledge the truth of their position.
Still! It is a box. I am sort of in it. I have chewed and clawed myself some cardboard.
I say: It counts.

The Beauteous CK and I cruised by the Plaza Hotel and toasted the Holiday Season with Niptinis at the elegant Champagne Bar.

Thankful Thursday

Naps, Kitties!

Naps are very high on the list of things I am thankful for! This recent occasion is a particularly fine example:  Just the perfect balance of light, warmth, snugglability of the beddy and proximity of the Human Petter.

The Quadrafecta of Slumber!
